How to View and Send the Full E-mail Headers
The header in an E-mail provides vital information about who sent a particular message, and is very difficult to forge. This is essential for us to do a full investigation into reports of abuse. How you view a full header depends on the E-mail program that you use:
Windows OS:
- Outlook Express
- Double click to open the message.
- Under the File menu, select Properties.
- Click on the Details tab.
- The Internet headers will appear; copy and paste into the original E-mail.
- Forward the message to abuse@atlantisnet.com.
- Outlook 98, 2000, 2002 (XP) and 2003
- Double click to open the message.
- Under the View menu, select Options.
- Copy and paste the text in the Internet Headers box into the original
E-mail.
- Forward the message to abuse@atlantisnet.com.
- Outlook 2007
- Double click to open the message.
- Click the small icon (when you mouseover it, it reads Message Options) in the bottom right corner of the Options toolbox.
- Copy and paste the text in the Internet Headers box into the original
E-mail.
- Forward the message to abuse@atlantisnet.com.
- Netscape 6
- Select the Inbox
- Under the View menu, select Headers, and choose All.
- Forward the message to abuse@atlantisnet.com.
Macintosh OS:
- Entourage and Outlook Express
- Double click to open the message.
- Under the View menu, select Internet Headers.
- Forward the message to abuse@atlantisnet.com.
- Netscape Communicator
- Under the Communicator menu, select Messenger.
- Double click to open the message.
- Under the View menu, select Headers, and choose All.
- Forward the message to abuse@atlantisnet.com.
- Mail
- Under the Mail menu, select Preferences.
- Click the Viewing icon.
- Click the arrow box on the Show Header Detail pop-up list, and
choose All.
- Close the Viewing window.
- Forward the message to abuse@atlantisnet.com.
